My Tokyo Navi is a public transport routing application for the Tokyo area. Are you ever in a situation where you want to know which nearby station you should walk to and how to get to your destination? Traveling and need an app that works offline because you dont want to incur roaming data charges? This could be the app for you.
The app asks for a start point and a destination point and then tells you how to get between the two using Tokyos public railways and subways. Both the start and destination can be:
a) Your current location using the iPhones location services
b) A station selected from the database
c) A station on a particular line
d) Any point on the map
e) Any of the above that you have saved earlier and labeled as home, office, etc.
Some other features include:
-Full, configurable support in Japanese and English.
-A data connection is unnecessary for route finding.
-Search for stations in either English or Japanese. Results appear as you type.
-Enter lines you want routes to avoid. Useful if train lines are delayed or congested.
-Maps for sections of the route where walking is required.
-Browse a database of train lines and stations at any time.
-When you tap on a train line in a route, you can see all of the stations on that line.
-When you tap on a station in a route, you can see all of the train lines that you can transfer to.
Please note that the database only contains data for public transport in the Tokyo area. Currently train departure and arrival times are not included. Routes are designed to be good on average, no matter what time you arrive at the platform. Time table information may be included in a future update.

Offline map is good
This app is good because the map in this app contains useful information and it is available when offline.
Very good app
It rarely help me in Tokyo you can not get lost with it
Needs work
The best feature of this app is the ability to browser individual line maps. However, some lines are missing, others mislabeled. The routing feature can be helpful, but doesnt always show the easier, or quickest routes. Cross reference with other apps if you have them.
Mostly Helpful
Had 9 days in Japan. Beforehand, I scurried to find an offline nav program. If youve looked, you know theres lots of junk - stuff that doesnt come close to delivering. This one actually worked. Most of the time.
A great feature is the ability to save spots for later. I did that before leaving and was glad I did. The fact it gives several options for metro/subway travel is nice, too.
But Id say about 30% of the time while offline in Tokyo, it wouldnt find where I was or recognize addresses I input. Is that satisfactory? Well, its the best app I found, but I was still left high and dry a few times. But its built-in station locations combined with your saved spots will save you when the other features fail.
Also, its a little weak at walking directions. Its more designed for train travel, so youll have to forge your own path on foot a lot. Which isnt so bad, as I love wandering around Japan.
To summarize, this is not a perfect app, but it was my best friend while out and about - in part because I prepared (saving hotels, stores, attractions, etc.).
I will say I bought it before it went free w/IAP, so your mileage may vary if you dont pay. But it was well worth it to me. However, I may just rent a smartphone or get a worldwide data plan on my iPhone for my next trip to save some grief (and allow me to email/web anywhere).
its ok
its a helpful app up to a point. it wont always give you the most direct route or put you at the closest station to your destination and it is missing lines
